The Independent – 7 Best Jogging Strollers

The Independent in the United Kingdom recently shared an article rating the best jogging strollers. Here are some of the highlights from their review:

  • Ideally, choose one with 16 inch wheels, a five point harness, a hand operated break, a fixed front wheel and a wrist loop. Also make sure your baby is six months old and able to hold their head up. In fact, some manufactures saying the baby should be at least a year old.
  • Be mindful that this isn’t like normal running – there will be increased pressure on your arms and shoulders that you’ll need to get used to. Also, be aware that these new buggies are big, even when folded, so be sure to have somewhere to store it.

  • The Bumbleride Indie comes in at a close second, thanks to it being nippy, lightweight, good looking and easy to steer.
  • This looks fabulous and offers a comfy ride, largely thanks to the soft and gorgeous fabrics. It’s lightweight and nippy and the steering is unbeatable. The enormous shopping basket and canopy and easy fold mechanism are also in its favour, although the recline is a little fiddly.

Cool Mom Picks – Bumbleride Indie 4: Lightweight and off-road ready

Cool Mom Picks – Bumbleride Indie 4: Lightweight and off-road ready

Esther at Cool Mom Picks recently put Indie 4 through their family’s usual paces: the mall, the park and the boardwalk. Here are a few highlights from her review:

  • I’m happy to report that after a week of using the Bumbleride Indie 4 as our main ride, its all-terrain wheels provide the smooth ride I’m used to from my The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and that’s saying something.
  • I love that it handles turns on a dime and is narrow enough to easily navigate in and out of doorways.
  • I especially appreciate the extendable sun canopy that provides extra coverage for my son.
  • The Indie 4 is also heavy enough that if I hook a couple bags to the back, it won’t topple over when I remove my son from his seat…
  • I also feel like I’m helping the environment on some level because the fabric is eco-friendly, made from recycled PET and bamboo blend.
  • The 22-pound Bumbleride Indie 4 all-terrain stroller is not as lightweight as an umbrella stroller, although it is easy enough to lift into the trunk of a car (and I’m five months pregnant and ultra-cautious about what I lift these days).
  • All things considered, I think the Bumbleride Indie 4 is a fantastic stroller, especially given the $599 price point which includes an infant bassinet, a generously-sized cargo basket underneath, and the all-important cup holder.

USA Today – Best New Products for Summer Family Travel

USA Today Best new products for summer family travel
Bumbleride Indie 4 best summer stroller

USA Today recently featured our new all terrain Indie 4 as one of their Best New Products for Summer Family Travel! Here is an edited excerpt of their article:

“The right gear and gadgets go a long way toward making a family vacation successful. These new products make traveling easier for families by doing away with such common “trip-ups” as bored kids, lost dogs, cramped tents, too much to carry and not enough luggage.

Use one stroller for city and country adventures

A sister to Indie, Bumbleride’s popular jogging stroller, the more compact Indie 4 ups the utility to create what Bumbleride calls a “crossover stroller.” No need to pack two baby buggies, one for city jaunts and one for all terrain adventures. Because of the air-filled, over-sized tires — yes, tires — the Indie 4 rolls easily on sidewalks and maneuvers through dirt, gravel and grass. That means it can handle pebbly lakeside trails as well as unpaved national park paths. The adjustable handlebar has enough positions so that short and tall partners can find their sweet spots for traveling, hiking and shopping.

The included bassinet stretches your budget by making the Indie 4 functional for infants. The fabric is easy to wipe clean, the seat reclines fully for kiddie naps and the attachable bar enables the stroller to carry some car seats. Although the Indie 4 folds up to 29-inches by 24.5 inches by 15 inches, collapsing the 22-pound stroller takes practice.” – Candyce H. Stapen

Indie 4 Review – Katy Martin – Steamboat Springs, CO.

June 20th, 2014

Bumbleride Indie 4 review Katy Martin Steamboat Springs Colorado
I imagine other new moms can relate to the need to feel like you are doing things right. We’re thrust into a whirlwind of conflicting opinions and it’s hard to know who or what to believe. Sometimes affirmation comes in the form of positive results at your latest wellness visit, the only time in your life when “She’s gaining weight beautifully” is music to your ears. At other times a smile from your newborn is all you need to get through your day. Or was that just a little gas? I recently felt the satisfaction of believing I had made the right decision when I met a new mother’s group for the first time.

Setting off for a hike, I popped open my stroller at which point the other’s adoringly exclaimed, “Is that a Bumbleride?” The brand new, all-terrain Bumbleride Indie 4 has done me proud. Not only does the gorgeous aquamarine color draw the attention of admirers, but it’s array of really well-considered features draws stroller aficionados too. Such as it’s plentiful storage space: I ended up carrying several other diaper bags, cell phones, water bottles et al as we set off on our hike.

I live in one of the most beautiful towns in America, Steamboat Springs, a town where the surrounding mountains beckon you outside, day-in, day-out. Over the past few months, the Indie 4, Lily, and I have pounded the pavement of the Yampa River Core Trail; we’ve explored the rough trails of our local Whistler Park together; and we’ve even trekked up a few thousand feet of vertical on Emerald Mountain. We’ve even navigated the tight twists and turns of local boutiques without knocking over one thing, and tucked ourselves together in corners of restaurants without getting any glares (that I cared to notice) for taking up too much space. I haven’t rolled over anyone’s foot either, thanks to the front wheels being compactly tucked on the inside of the frame. (I have bumped the odd doorway with the back ones – but I think I have to blame that on my bad driving skills!)

Through it all, I have been really impressed with the Indie’s maneuverability over different terrain, in and around tight corners, as well as the way it rolls over different lumps and bumps of our landscape with shock-absorbing all-wheel suspension.

The Fold

It’s easy to open, close and compactly stow away. This aspect was very important to me because I travel often to see family spread all over the world and I needed a stroller that I could easily take with me. (I’m definitely planning on getting the travel bag). Before I set out the first time, I practiced opening and closing it so as not to make a fool of myself in public – and after just two goes, I felt ready to head out! It’s easy. It’s relatively light too. I say relative because, at 22 lbs, it still feels a little heavy to lug around – but compared to other strollers of it’s kind, it’s a breeze!

The Bassinet

I have especially enjoyed the bassinet. We’ve had some pretty warm weather this spring, and while I also love my Maxi Cosi Infant Car Seat – which locks in easily to the Indie 4 with the help of an additional adapter from Bumbleride (most brands are compatible with the Indie, but the Maxi Cosi needs the adapter) – the Maxi Cosi gets pretty warm, and Lily heats up with it. The bassinet is not only a lovely, cooler option, it gives her space to vigorously kick her little legs. She especially loves the “peek-a-boo” sunroof, locking in her attention to see all that passes above her. I’m comforted by the fact that the sunshade is SPF 45 too! The bassinet has also been a fabulous alternative to a pack n’ play, and even a Moses basket. It’s become a cozy haven for nap time during the day, and it’s been all we need to take with us for Lily’s sleeping arrangements when we’ve traveled and stayed at hotels.

Bumbleride Indie 4 review Katy Martin Steamboat Springs Colorado

Indie 4 is an investment that I’m thrilled I made. I trust it will be all we need for several years, adapting to the needs of our growing baby (and children). I live by the motto of “Buy nice or buy twice!” My husband has meticulously inspected it’s structure and sturdiness, and my mother has examined how easily it cleans. The material is easy to wipe down, and you do have the option to remove the entire lining of the stroller to wash more thoroughly. I don’t expect to see any wear and tear anytime soon. I would recommend the Indie 4 to anyone who is looking for a stroller that can go the distance, with children of all ages, and across varying terrains and climates (I have yet to test it out in out 400+ powder snow, but trust it will be a-ok !) So when my friends exclaimed, “Is that a Bumbleride?” I beamed proudly. “Yes, it is and I love it.”

My favorite features:

  • I like the extra storage basket underneath
  • I love that it is compatible with my Maxi Cosi car seat which I love because it eliminates the need of transferring a sleeping baby
  • I feel good about the fact that the fabrics are made up of 50% recycled PET (14 plastic bottles) and 50% bamboo charcoal fiber
  • I appreciate the auto locks and standing fold as I wrangle getting in and out of cars, and planes
  • I’m comforted by the 3 year warranty and “a lifetime of friendly Customer Care.” I did reach out to Bumbleride with a question when we first bought it, and they were nothing but delightful and very helpful.
  • My husband appreciates the adjustable handle to accommodate our height differences
  • Lily loves the peek-a-boo window

My least favorite features:

  • The foot brake is easy to tap up and down with my foot, but I do wish it was a little more cushioned for when I am out and about in flip-flops!
  • It is quite big and takes up quite a bit of room in my Jeep Liberty, but space-saving is not my biggest priority with this stroller
  • If it could be lighter in weight, I would be eternally grateful

…but I’m just making these last points to find something to nitpick… because ultimately I am really happy with the Indie 4. It’s perfect for our lifestyle! Bumbleride Indie 4 review Katy Martin Steamboat Springs Colorado

Baby Center – Bumbleride Diaper Bag Review

Babycenter bumbleride Diaper bag review
Bumbleride Diaper Bag Green papyrus
Bumbleride Diaper Bag Babycenter 5 star review
Baby Center recently reviewed our new Diaper Bag. Here are the highlights from their review:

Description

A stylish messenger-style diaper bag that is gender-neutral and comfortable to carry

What it is

  • In a market cram-jammed with feminine, flowery diaper bags and luxe leather-like totes, the Bumbleride’s simple yet totally useful bag is a welcome addition.
  • While the colors range from classic (black, navy, or gray) to punchy (poppy red, emerald green, turquoise blue) the design is clean and spare, which makes it especially appealing to men.
  • Thoughtful touches abound such as stout stroller-clipping straps and strong magnetic closures to keep all your gear safely inside.
  • The bag sits firmly upright on a counter, and doesn’t hang so low on a stroller that parents kick it with each stride.
  • This gender-neutral gem could carry parents through several children and beyond.

The Simple Moms – Bumbleride Indie 4 Stroller Review

The Simple Moms recently put Indie 4 to the test. Here are the highlights from their review:

  • Being a mom of 4, and two of them still requiring to be in a stroller for long walks or adventure days, having a reliable and predictable stroller is a must. I must say, I have found that in a stroller…and a “new to me” brand!
  •  I had a chance to get a sneak peak and share my thoughts with you all. the Indie 4 is being added to their existing line, it is not replacing anything that I am aware of. It’s a fabulous new crossover stroller! This means it’s going to be great for anything from walking to rugged trails. Lightweight too!
  • Comes with a bassinet. SO, no purchasing this additional item to make it fit your current lifestyle. Because of this, this stroller can adapt to any and all stages of your child’s life. It also comes with an infant car seat adapter and a newly designed humongous canopy.
  • The tires are rugged, good enough for on and off roading. This one has gone on walks around the block, walks while shopping outdoors and indoors and soccer games.
  • The fold is amazing. Like, amaze-balls. It’s slim and compact and can fit great in any type of vehicle. Most likely even a smart car.  It can lay or stand up folded.
  • It is very easy to push and maneuver, two handed as well as one.. It glides right along. Not once have I wished this stroller could do something it couldn’t do. It’s amazing!
  • To be completely transparent with you guys, my husband grabs this stroller EVERY time we go on a walk folks. No joke. This has my husband’s stamp of approval…and we have sure tested a lot of strollers!

Baby Center – Bumbleride Flite Stroller Review

Baby Center Editors recently reviewed our lightweight, travel ready Flite stroller. Here are highlights from their review:

Description

“The Bumbleride Flite travel stroller is as light as an umbrella model, but great features make it much more sturdy and versatile.” – Baby Center

  • “At a mere 14 pounds, the Flite is firmly in umbrella-stroller territory, but has numerous features that make it worth its pricier-than-an-umbrella price tag. For instance, the Flite comes with an included car seat adapter (almost unheard of for umbrella strollers) that fits popular models from half a dozen major manufacturers.”
  • “The Flite’s fabric seat is also much nicer than those found in most umbrella cheapies. With exterior fabric made from recycled PET plastic and interior fabric that’s 50 percent bamboo, the Flite’s seat is cushy-soft, durable and eco-conscious. Oh, and machine-washable, crucial for any fabric intended to hold an infant.”
  • “Many strollers with similar features come standard with 3.5 inch wheels; the Flite’s 5-inch wheels are just plain better on rough terrain and with both front and rear suspension systems it rolls smoothly over practically any surface. It turns on a dime, reclines to an almost-flat position, and, when folded, is tiny enough to shove even in a minuscule trunk and light enough to carry for blocks.”

The Pastranas - The Bumbleride Life

Bumbleride Ambassadors - The Pastranas

Lyn-Z and Travis can most often be found in the air. Lyn-Z is a professional skateboarder and Travis is a professional auto racer and motocross rider. New parents to Addy, the Pastrana’s took a break from their Nitro Circus Tour stop in Australia to share how their Bumblerides help navigate life on tour. This is the first post in a new series named Bumbleride Ambassadors where we share active and outdoor families’ experiences with their Bumbleride stroller(s).

“We have always lived a very hectic, fast pace, constantly on the move life. Having a baby generally slows you down but our lives just don’t permit that. We have to be able to scoop our daughter up and bring her along on our worldly adventures. Our Bumbleride strollers have been a huge part in making it a smoother transition into traveling with a baby.

The Indie is the ultimate all in one, all terrain vehicle for our daughter. We are able to push her around the back yard to the motocross track, out to the skatepark, on the rough uneven cobble stone European roads, on a jog, and it maneuvers so well through a city. She could be in the attachable bassinet to sleep when she was younger or if we didn’t have room to bring that along and now that she’s a bit bigger we can lock the footrest up and lay the back down flat creating a cozy bassinet on its own.

At 8 months old our daughter Addy has been on tour about half her life. We traveled a month in Europe, a month all over North America, and now we are in Australia for a month. My husband and I perform in and tour with the Nitro Circus Live, where I skateboard and he rides freestyle motocross. It is great to be able to have the space under the stroller to load it up with everything Addy could possibly need and wheel her into the locker room for a babysitter to watch her while we perform. I take comfort in knowing she has a place to sit and play or sleep.”

Baby Gizmo – Bumbleride Indie 4 Stroller Review

Bumbleride Indie 4 all terrain stroller review

Baby Gizmo Bumbleride Indie 4 Stroller Review

Hollie at The Baby Gizmo Company recently reviewed our new all terrain Indie 4 stroller and also included a great video review. Here are a few highlights from her review:

  • “The seat of the Indie 4 is roomy and accommodates up to 55 lbs. It measures 13″ wide, with an 18″ seat back and a 25″ clearance from back of seat to top of canopy. A padded, adjustable, 5-point harness keeps your baby safe in the seat, the included bumper bar gives them something to hang on (and hang toys on!) and the adjustable calf/footrest keeps them comfy. The Indie 4 sports a deep recline powered by a one-handed strap system that is great for nap time.’
  • “Full coverage is where it’s at with a good canopy and the Indie 4 has that down. The SPF 45 canopy is large and even sports a mesh peek-a-boo window that allows air to circulate through the seat. The peek-a-boo window has a cover with a magnetic closure so there is no loud velcro on this! If you know me, you know that I LOVE that!”
  • “The wheels are where you are going to find the most difference between the standard (and original!) Bumbleride Indie and the Indie 4. They both have air-filled tires but the difference is in number, size and suspension. The Indie 4 has four, off-road-ready wheels, complete with shock-absorbing all-wheel suspension and sturdy air-filled tires. The front 8 1/2″ wheels are swivel wheels with the ability to lock straight for improved stability over rougher terrain. The rear 12″ wheels are air-filled and can be removed easily for a more compact storage.”
  • “The wheels and suspension give the Indie 4 amazing maneuverability whether you are cruising the streets, shopping the mall or hitting the trails. It is important to remember that the Indie 4 is NOT a jogger and is not suitable for jogging. If you want to jog with your little one, you will want to stick with the original Indie.”
  • “The Indie 4 comes complete with a new parent-facing bassinet to turn it into a pram. The bassinet sports side straps for carrying and a roomy interior for baby. It conveniently installs easily into the seat so no fabric or seat removal is necessary to use it.”

Wrap Up

“The Indie 4 comes in 7 fun colors – Aquamarine, Green Papyrus, Cayenne Red, Jet Black, Fog Grey, Lotus Blue and Lotus Pink – and retails for $599. Remember that INCLUDES the bassinet! Overall, we think Bumbleride did a great job with the Indie 4 offering parents who don’t jog, but want to go off the beaten path, an amazing stroller.”
