We recently spent half a work day volunteering at the San Diego Food Bank preparing produce for the hungry in San Diego. We had a blast and it felt great to give back to hungry parents and children in our hometown!
The San Diego Food Bank is a critical component to the welfare of San Diego County, providing food to people in need, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger-related issues. Through a combination of programs and partnerships with over 350 San Diego County nonprofit charities, the Food Bank acts as a central repository and distribution point for government and donated food. Funded by foundations, grants, the USDA, corporations, sponsors and individual donors, the Food Bank distributes over 20 million pounds of food annually to individuals, families and a network of nonprofit organizations that work to alleviate hunger throughout the county. It has come to our attention that there is a possibility for multi-use bars included with Indie & Indie Twin models (I-110, I-205, IT-111 and IT-305) to be used incorrectly, resulting in a potential strangulation hazard. The multi-use bar has three positions: 1. Upright (to be used with a toddler), 2. Mid (to only be used when installing an infant car seat) and 3. Folded.
Even though Bumbleride’s packaging instructions, as well as labeling on the multi-use bar, clearly explain correct and incorrect use, we are finding that some consumers are still using these multi-use bars inappropriately.
Because safety is of the utmost concern to Bumbleride, we are releasing this clear warning in conjunction with the CPSC on how the multi-use bars are to be correctly used.
The multi-use bars were included as accessories on these models and are not needed for the safety of your child. They can also be removed if desired. Please always ensure that your child is secure using the 5-point harness in the seat.

Since launching our ‘Natural Edition’ strollers featuring a recycled polyester outer shell and bamboo blended interior, we have been interested in other companies that take advantage of such innovative materials.
Timberland is one of them, using recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate in their ‘Earthkeepers’ clothing line. Learn more about it here.
Recycled PET is consisted of plastic bottles, creating stronger tensile strength than normal fabrics. It can also be made to be soft to the touch and very durable.
It’s cool to think that each Bumbleride ‘Natural Edition’ stroller uses about 13.5 recycled plastic bottles for it’s outer shell fabric! We’re excited to be using this material and hope to be able to take advantage of it more in the future.

We just finished day two of the Kind + Jugend trade show in Cologne, Germany. The European market is responding very well to some of the exciting additions we’ve made this year. The Maxi Cosi Adapters and latching Carrycots are a must-have for Europe and we’re getting great reactions to our new adapters for Indie and Indie Twin. The new Movement and Natural Editions have been getting a lot of buzz as well as our new turquoise color launching later this year. We are looking forward to launching Bumbleride in Europe in 2012.

Nearly 2 million sick and injured children have been treated at Rady Children’s Hospital since it opened on August 19, 1954. It is San Diego county’s only hospital dedicated solely to pediatrics and is the region’s designated pediatric trauma center.
“Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, loves Bumbleride Strollers. Bumbleride cares about making life easier for parents and their children and that is exactly what they do for our tiniest patients and families at Rady. Bumbleride donates strollers to Rady on a continuous basis throughout the year impacting the quality of life of families with financial and medical needs. Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego thanks Bumbleride for their generosity” said Belinda Lanois, In-Kind Coordinator for Rady Children’s Hospital
Recently a stroller was given to the mother of Ruth Ruiz. Ruth is a 3 ½ month old baby who was born prematurely at 38 weeks gestation, has Down’s syndrome and a cardiac condition. She has been hospitalized in the NICU since birth due to various medical complications. Her parents lack resources and have not been able to buy a stroller for their daughter. Ruth’s mother was very appreciative for this donation!
