Blaxland down under!

Being from San Diego where the climate is usually warm year-round, we often find ourselves hiking outside or visiting our local parks and playgrounds. We came across this incredible playground in Sydney, Australia while searching for more locations.

Blaxland Riverside Park was designed by JMD Design who wanted to create an open-air space, free from a feeling of enclosure. Not only is it bright and interactive but it seems to integrate wonderfully into the surrounding landscape.

Inspired by what was affectionately called “Banana Boards” in the late 70’s, Stereo owners Jason Lee and Chris Pastras have introduced the Vinyl series boards. A great first board for kids that you dads will find tempting to swipe for a cruise to the neighborhood market.

happy!

As parents, we are lucky because our children give us a heads up on happiness. But what is it that truly makes people happy? Documentary filmmaker Roko Belic explores that question as they search different countries, tribes and villages for the secret to life greatest emotion. Belic said making this film changed his life, he moved to be closer to his family and friends and took up surfing, a past time that he used to love doing.

“Prioritize the people you love in your life and prioritize your happiness,” he advises. “It’s good for everything else you care about—your health, your longevity, your work and your relationships.” You can find the documentary here and on Netflix

Hi Sebastian!

November 6th, 2012

Hi Sebastian!
Hi Sebastian!

Our Southern California Bumbleride family is happy to welcome Sebastian into the world. Born to a beautiful momma, Cristina and dad, John. Cristina is missed in our office but we are happy to see her blossom as a mother. Here are her expressions about her new adventure!

“Being a mother pales in comparison to what I thought it would be like. It is truly the best feeling in the world to know that I am Sebastian’s mom. It’s strange because I feel like nothing existed before him. I have found that balance is key to being the best mom I can be. I give myself some time for a quick run, workout or shopping alone, at least 30 min to an hour daily. Also, John & I go on a date night at least once every couple of weeks. But the rest of the time is Sebastian Time & we know this is very important as the baby/child stage passes so quickly. I heard a saying once, “The days are long but the years are short”. We cherish every minute with him & of course, this includes taking pictures of him as much as possible.

John & I made a promise to each other that we would expose Sebastian to as many fun, cultural, educational & creative things as possible in his childhood. This of course includes travel & we are so happy with our Bumblerides as they ensure Sebastian is safe & sound while we’re exploring. We normally use the Indie with Carrycot (Ocean) or Flite (Aqua). It has been great for Sebastian to nap & provides a nice place for us to change his diapers cleanly & privately.”

2013 bumbleride preview mommy loves coffee

One of my stops at ABC Kids was a hometown favorite of mine, Bumbleride. I always have a blast with the Bumbleride crew and that day was no exception. While visiting their booth, I got a chance to see the new colors and features for 2013 and get a sneak peak at the brand new Bumbleride Era stroller – coming mid-2013. It’s so new that I was only able to see a digital picture of the stroller and a list of its features. And I liked what I saw…

Let’s start with the new features and colors for 2013.

The Bumbleride colors are becoming more vibrant and bold, but still represent what Bumbleride is known and loved for – color mixed with comfort, eco-conscious materials, functionality and practicality. New fabric types and colors will be featured on the entire 2013 collection, beginning with the Indie in January.

NEW COLORS FOR 2013

  • Papyrus – a vibrant green with a soothing blue seat.

  • Lotus Pink – a dark teal with a splash of pink.
  • Lotus Blue – a dark teal with a splash of blue.
  • (Lotus is available with a bright blue or pink canopy (packaged separately) and will be available through specialty retailers only.

  • The Toddler Board accessory attaches with a clamp system and adapts to the Indie and Indie Twin models.

CHANGES TO THE 2013 INDIE

  • The slightly redesigned frame makes it more suitable for joggings due to the frame’s front footwell, which places weight further back on the stroller.
  • New easy to adjust footrest for infants (with buttons on the outside).
  • Deeper footwell for larger toddlers.
  • Comes standard with a foldable bumper bar and universal car seat adapter.
  • New fabrics and colors.

THE NEW 2013 BUMBLERIDE ERA DETAILS
As soon as I have pictures, I will share, but for now… let these details (and my word that it’s going to be awesome) hold you over.

SLIDE AND LOCK SYSTEM

The Bumbleride Era uses a unique slide and lock system to attach its seating components to its chassis. This new system provides the most lateral support possible, minimizing the seat’s movement on the frame. This results in a more durable system that will function better and last longer.

CUSTOM CONFIGURATIONS
The Bumbleride Era chassis is designed to accommodate a variety of seating options specifically formed to fit your little one throughout all stages of his early development. The system’s options consist of a lightweight aluminum chassis, infant car seat adapter, bassinet, modular/reversible seat as well as a lightweight soft seat designed specifically for larger toddlers. The new optional Toddler Board attaches to Era to provide a ride along feature for growing families.

FABRICS AND MATERIALS
The Bumbleride Era will be available in 6 bold color options. Each fabric option utilizes 50% recycled polyester exterior fabric and 50% bamboo charcoal interior fabric. The interior fabrics that touch baby utilize bamboo charcoal’s unique features like moisture absorption, temperature regulation and prevention of bacterial growth.

SUSPENSION
The Bumbleride Era’s 10” rear and 8” front wheels are supported by durable suspensions that make city walking as smooth as possible.

5-POINT BREAKAWAY HARNESS
The Bumbleride Era’s one-push breakaway harness is easy to adjust and separates into 5 components, helping to prevent your baby from becoming entangled.

Bumbleride 2013 Sneak Peek

Next year is expected to be a big year for Bumbleride! After a “new stroller hiatus” since releasing the Flite in 2010, Bumbleride is planning to debut the do-it-all Bumbleride Era. This modular stroller will be a one-is-all-you-need type of stroller. Little details have been released about the new  buggy but we wanted to share what we have. I did have the opportunity to see a sketch of the new stroller but Bumbleride isn’t releasing the image yet as it isn’t the final product. Here is what we know:

Slide and Lock System
The Bumbleride Era uses a unique slide and lock system to attach its seating components to its chassis.  This new system provides the most lateral support possible, minimizing the seat’s movement on the frame. The result is a more durable system that will function better and last longer.

Sounds interesting, right?!? Well, it looks pretty cool from the sketches too! We’ll all just have to wait to see the finished product when we get our hands on one and bring you a Baby Gizmo video review! ;)
