Landfill Harmonic is an amazing film about a music teacher and a group of children who are growing up in a slum in Paraguay that is built on top of a garbage landfill. The film shows how they have been able to take everyday trash and transform it into instruments that make beautiful music, while transforming the children’s outlook on life. Truly Inspiring! We are excited and looking forward to launching three new Bumbleride videos this week. They have been a fun project and creative expression for us here at Bumbleride. Each video has a different personality and style just like you.
Nurseries tend to be a quiet and interesting place for your little one to call home and there’s no question that one of the most important (and iconic) items for a new nursery is the mobile. Mobiles are magical. There’s nothing like seeing your baby gaze up and follow the shapes, colors and movements in the sky.
Mobiles are also expensive. If you’re looking for something modern, simple and elegant, they can easily run up into the $50-$100 range. Some of our favorites are the Frazier & Wing as well as the Schmitt Design mobiles, available at Fawn & Forest (www.fawnandforest.com).
If you’re the DIY type of parent, you can create one of these beautiful installations by using two wooden dowels, colored papers or foams and clear twine. The simplicity of this one we found online is stunning.
For little people adorableness, check out the Lady’s & Gents blog at http://ladysandgents.com/. Designer Jenni Kayne and stylist Estee Stanley are busy posting snapshots of stylishly dressed munchkins that will make you smile.
As a parent your time is very precious so you want to be directed to the best resources and advice when you need it. Rhubie & Rhett is here to do that for you. It is a great bi-monthly magazine for parents filled with everything from interviews with Pediatricians and stylish moms to recommending books, music and apps for kids.
You will love the Gear Guide brought to you by Bumbleride’s co-founder Emily Reichardt. As a mom of three, Emily gives you a straight forward and honest review of the latest in creative products.
Inspired by what was affectionately called “Banana Boards” in the late 70’s, Stereo owners Jason Lee and Chris Pastras have introduced the Vinyl series boards. A great first board for kids that you dads will find tempting to swipe for a cruise to the neighborhood market.
As parents, we are lucky because our children give us a heads up on happiness. But what is it that truly makes people happy? Documentary filmmaker Roko Belic explores that question as they search different countries, tribes and villages for the secret to life greatest emotion. Belic said making this film changed his life, he moved to be closer to his family and friends and took up surfing, a past time that he used to love doing.
“Prioritize the people you love in your life and prioritize your happiness,” he advises. “It’s good for everything else you care about—your health, your longevity, your work and your relationships.” You can find the documentary here and on Netflix

We love the idea of an endless summer and Gray Malin has captured it for us in a series of beach photos entitled “À la Plage”. Shot from a doorless helicopter, Malin was able to capture amazing aerial views of shorelines from Australia and Europe to North and South America. “These photographs are a visual celebration of color, light, shape and summer bliss” -Gray Malin
