October 18, 2015 (San Diego, California) – Attendees of this year’s ABC Kids Expo are racing to the Bumbleride booth for a glimpse of the company’s highly-anticipated running stroller, the latest addition to their family of high-performance, environmentally-conscious strollers.

The first designated running stroller to join the Bumbleride family, Speed is designed to perform, no matter the athletic adventure. Totally versatile, Speed features Bumbleride’s new Speed3 steering which includes the following 3 modes:

1: Locked for running or training
2: 30-degree swivel for jogging or all terrain
3: Full 360-degree swivel for the city

Speed also includes all air filled tires (16” rear, 12” front) for maximum performance, comfort, and convenience, and an all-wheel suspension for the easiest push in its class. Weighing in at 23.5 pounds (including wheels and canopy), Speed measures 49”L x 25”W x 39.5”H when standing and 33”L x 25”W x 15.5”H when folded. In addition to the launch of Speed, visitors to Bumbleride’s ABC booth will also go ga-ga for best-selling strollers Indie and Indie Twin, all grown up with new-for-2016 updates. Magic Beans Blog – Meet The New Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller!

“The Bumbleride Indie, while not officially a jogging stroller, has long been a favorite of casual joggers, with a lockable wheel and big air-filled tires, along with a ton of other perks (all-terrain wheels, rear suspension, tons of storage, eco-friendly fabrics, a HUGE canopy, a near-flat recline, and more). This year, Bumbleride is adding another option for more dedicated joggers: the unique and lovely Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller, optimized to get you where you need to go, FAST!

In our video, Pati, the friendly voice at the other end of the line if you call us, demonstrates some of the cool new features on this exciting new jogger:

The most obvious innovation on this jogging stroller is the three swivel modes:

  • Full swiveling, for optimal maneuverability when you’re strolling the city or suburbs;
  • Locked in place, for running; and
  • A 30-degree swivel, which will help only-sometimes joggers handle corners, and will come in handy when you’re hiking!

The new fabrics are also absolutely fabulous – we love how they’ve made them even more eco-friendly while improving the quality even further. Everyone wins!”

LET’S NOT REINVENT THIS WHEEL.

Lets Not Reinvent This Wheel Bumbleride Strollers Why Air Filled Tires

LET’S NOT REINVENT THIS WHEEL.

Call me old fashioned, but I’m pretty into air. And so is every single car manufacturer in the world. Not to mention, the most technologically-advanced car racing series in the world, Formula-1. So if all these guys are filling their tires with old-fashioned air, why do some strollers opt to fill their tires with foam?

But before I get into this earth-shattering air vs. foam debate, let me tell you where I’m coming from.

My first stroller was not a Bumbleride. It was a City Mini GT (foam-filled tires). I put a lot of thought into this purchase and admittedly, it has some legitimate strengths. In particular, it’s really easy to fold. I consider it the Honda Accord of strollers. It looks pretty good (although the styling is conservative), does everything pretty well and drives just as you would expect, nicely.

After getting a little tired of “nice,” however, I opted for a stroller that I could actually connect with on a deeper level. Like, say, a fine automobile. You see, the difference between a Honda and BMW, for example, has to do with the intangibles. Like how you feel when you’re behind the wheel, how it takes the corners as if it is simply interpreting and responding to your innermost desires and how it looks. Yes, looks are so very important.

To me, my Bumbleride feels like my car. I drive a BMW X5 diesel. Like my car, the stroller responds to me and to the road with confidence. The handling is spot on. The fabrics look and feel durable, yet luxurious and are equally good for the environment. It feels tight. And like a diesel BMW, it’s unique. If you’re a car lover, uniqueness is everything.

Most importantly, the tires on my Bumbleride are filled to the brim with good old-fashioned air.

Air is better. Air is nature’s shock absorber. Air is proven to deliver the most comfortable ride, while maintaining a high-level of performance. Air-filled tires can handle road elements far better than their foamy counterparts. Road elements that can jerk your precious baby awake from a happy slumber.

Air is not about off-roading or all-terrain. Air is about the terrain we experience on a daily basis. Air is about handling all the terrains with ease and comfort as well as cornering like a Formula-1 car when road is smooth.

This is why I’m sticking to air. Something that’s been pretty much the norm since a man named Dunlop decided to patent the idea in 1888. He’s long gone but his wheel remains the same. So let’s not reinvent it. – Graham Simon, Bumbleride Adventurer, Creative director. Daddy. Lover of anything with wheels. Talking with Joel “Stone” – Little Italy + Bumbleride Recycler

Talking with Joel “Stone” – Little Italy + Bumbleride Recycler

  1. How did you get started recycling in Little Italy?

After recycling for myself, neighbors started asking for help with their recycled materials (cardboard, aluminum, pallets & glass). After meeting one of the local landlords in Little Italy who didn’t have a recycling program, I started helping them as well.  That was 15 years ago. Recycling is a side job for me besides my day job at the Post Office. After word of mouth, I now help recycle for much of downtown San Diego.

  1. What types of materials do you recycle?

Aluminum, cardboard, tin, glass, most all recyclables. Even plastics are collected at the local recycling yard for proper disposal, which I also provide.

  1. Is business growing?  Do you find people are trying to recycle more?

My personal recycling business is going down since more and more companies are creating their own recycling programs with local waste disposal services.  I do see more and more people recycling on their own, now more than ever.

  1. Do you have any advice for people trying to recycle more often?

Just to emphasize the importance of recycling in regards to landfill space decreasing, recycling is more important than ever to help reduce our overall waste.

  1. How many pounds of Aluminum usually come out of an average stroller that you recycle?

It’s hard to say exactly per stroller since my aluminum is weighed in bulk. I have probably recycled almost 400 stroller frames since I’ve started recycling with Bumbleride almost 5 years ago.

  1. Do you have any recommendations on how we can make our strollers more recyclable?

For each stroller I have to drill and grind out each rivet. By using more nuts and bolts, dis-assembly and recycling would be much easier for the average person. Try to use less plastics since that is not as recyclable as your other materials.

Thanks Stone for your help, feedback and for helping Little Italy recycle!!
