Gugu Guru Stroller Registry

Jogging and running in an urban environment is a great way to stay fit and healthy, but when you throw a stroller into the mix, things can get hairy. Between narrow sidewalks, potholes, public transportation and people traffic, finding the perfect jogging stroller for city living can be a challenge. After chatting with many parents, and lots of research, we rounded up our top picks for urban environment jogging and running strollers.
Bumbleride Indie All Terrain Stroller Eco Friendly

Best Storage Pick:

Bumbleride Indie: This is an absolutely gorgeous stroller with great features – a wide canopy, compact fold and ample storage. We also love that the stroller is manufactured with eco-friendlier textiles. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend this stroller for hard core runners, but it’s a high-quality option for your one and only day-to-day stroller and jogger.

2017 Indie Twin Review – Growing Up Jack

June 28th, 2017

growin up jack indie twin stroller review

“Together my husband and I spent hours researching the best double strollers. With so many options and factors to consider, deciding on a double for our baby and toddler was considerably harder than deciding on a single for us. It all paid off though, we ended up with one of the best: the Bumbleride Indie Twin. After a solid six months of using it, I feel like I can finally give an official review of it. It’s love, and here’s why:

The Indie Twin is a side by side all terrain stroller that can be used as a jogging stroller when the front wheels are locked. All-wheel suspensionand air-filled tires (a pump comes with the stroller) are features I didn’t think I needed, but now would have a really hard time living without. We have taken this stroller on the sand, rocky trails, and I regularly walk it on grassy hills.. all smooth and easy! Having the freedom to really take your stroller anywhere is amazing, and I am officially converted to the all terrain life.

Beyond being able to handle really rough terrain, this stroller is a dream to push and maneuver. I take it on walks daily and it always comes to Disneyland with us. One thing I absolutely need in a double stroller is the ability to push it easily one-handed and the Indie Twin completely satisfies that. I love that I have no problems pushing it while reaching down to give the baby a toy or the toddler a snack (a huge perk of side by sides, both kids are always in reach!) It really does not feel much different than maneuvering a single stroller, and it is only as wide as 30 inches (if a doorway is big enough for a wheelchair, it will be big enough for this stroller!)”…. Read more.

Great Mother’s Day Gift Ideas For Active Mothers-To-Be – CBS Los Angeles

May 8th, 2017

Sara Haley has some great mother’s day gift ideas for active mothers-to-be including our Bumbleride Speed jogging stroller.

Workout-Friendly Stroller:

The Bumbleride “Speed” is the perfect way to ease back into a workout routine as a new mom. It’s lightweight and has swivel technology, which makes it perfect for running or walking. Furthermore, if you’re pregnant with toddlers already at home, putting them in the stroller is a great way to stay fit during pregnancy. It may sound crazy but the support of a stroller can be great to ease issues like sciatica when walking so if you already have a stroller and baby hasn’t arrived, load it up with groceries, etc. and start getting used to it while you ease the pain. (Price: $549)

Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine – Speed Jogging Stroller Review

April 4th, 2017

Let’s start by acknowledging what everyone is thinking: Running is hard. And running with a baby—exponentially harder. But, if you are inclined to do it, you could do far worse than the Bumbleride Speed. Introduced in 2016, the Speed keeps baby comfortable and makes jogging with your little one as easy and enjoyable as it should be…

Using the Speed is intuitive and—dare we say it—a joy. Until you’re ready to hit the pavement, it stays anchored firmly in place thanks to a large, foot-operated brake bar. The handle swoops out wide behind the stroller, leaving plenty of space for running legs, and the entire handlebar adjusts up and down. We found its adjustments comfortably accommodated mom (5’5”) and dad (6’0”) without issue. The Speed’s three large wheels are virtually resistance-free, providing a smooth and cooperative platform for jogging, walking or anything in between.

The Speed’s signature feature is its three-setting front wheel assembly. With the simple maneuvering of a small rod, the front wheel can be moved between three distinct configurations. The first is the traditional jogging stroller setup, with the front wheel locked in place. This locked setup allows easy movement forward and some small steering adjustments, but is not conducive to quick or significant turns. The second configuration—our favorite—allows the front wheel to swivel 30 degrees either direction, facilitating unimpeded jogging without the constraints of a fully locked wheel. It’s ideal  for jogs around the neighborhood, when we’re navigating frequent turns and curves. The third and final configuration allows the Speed’s front wheel to turn freely, rotating a full 360 degrees. This configuration is perfect for walks or more leisurely use. We’ll often jog with the wheel locked or semi-locked to the farmer’s market and then switch it to swivel when arrive and make our way around the various produce and pastry (hey, we earned it by jogging there) booths.

The build quality is fantastic. The Speed’s metal frame feels solid and is welded together at its various joints. The wheels lock firmly onto the frame and, even with considerable effort, we could not get them to come loose (or even wobble). There is a wrist strap affixed to the handle bar so that if mom or dad has to suddenly slow, the Speed does not fly away unattended. Finally, it comes with a charming little bell that can be mounted in various positions on the handlebar and helps you warn others as you approach….

Overall, using the Speed is a joy—something we never thought we would say about a jogging stroller. It feels like a product designed to either make your life easier or, at worst, stay out of your way. It is light and nimble and its adjustable front wheel gives it a versatility that many jogging strollers seem to lack. If you are looking to take baby out into the world and get into (or back into) jogging with your little one, the Bumbleride Speed should be at the top of your list.

#HowWeEco – Retailer Spotlight – Sprout San Francisco

April 2nd, 2017

At Bumbleride, we strive to make every day Earth Day. We want you to, too. So, throughout the month of April, we will be helping you to make changes in your everyday life by providing content that can help you reduce your carbon footprint. (Bumbleride is also donating 1% of all April sales to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans.)

Our Retailer Spotlight for the month is our friends at Sprout San Francisco.

When you are in need of something for your baby, rest assured that anything you find at Sprout San Francisco has been vetted thoroughly and is safe for you to use with/for/on your children.  Suzanne hand picks only the safest and healthiest products for our children.  She spent several years studying organic products and the impact of toxic chemicals on our bodies.  In addition to her own research, Suzanne regularly consults with industry leaders for their expertise on the latest scientific data, studies and research.

We talked to Suzanne Price, CEO and founder of the shop, and thought you’d love what she has to say:

How do you describe your store?

Sprout is a natural and organic children’s boutique. We carry everything you need for children ages 0 – 4 years old in the healthiest materials possible. We have 5 physical locations. We have stores in the Bay Area, Chicago, and Brooklyn. We also have an e-commerce store at www.sproutsanfrancisco.com .

What criterion do you have when choosing/vetting products for your store?

Our top priority is health. We are looking to make sure that nothing on the item could offgas or harm the baby. Sometimes “eco” as in recycled, and “healthy” can be at odds if it’s more focused on the environment than toxins in the products. What we look for specifically is different in each category. All of our clothing is made from natural materials, grown without pesticides. Our toys are solid wood or organic cotton plush. In personal care, we avoid anything that can be an endocrine disruptor. In the gear category, our primary concern is flame retardants.

Who are the brands that come to mind that lead the industry in eco products?

Two brands immediately come to mind, Plan Toys for toys and Under the Nile for clothing. Both manage to produce products with the highest standards of safe materials, yet they also are able to keep price points attainable. This helps are broader range of customers to be able to bring safe products into their home.

Where do you see Bumbleride fitting into the eco scale of things and how/why you chose our products?

I’m proud to carry Bumbleride strollers in my stores.  They adhere to my strict vetting process and I love that the strollers are free of PVC, BPA, Phthalates, Fire Retardants and Polyurethane foam.  Plus, they are diverting plastics from landfills by having 100% rPET fabric and continually evolving with respect to reducing their carbon footprint.

What advice do you have for parents looking to lessen their impact on the environment

Don’t get overwhelmed. Do what you can do. Little changes make a difference. You can start by avoiding plastics. Most plastics are not good for your kids to be around, and they hurt the environment as well.

Tell us about the events you host at your stores and how they foster community.

At all of our stores we host educational talks and events that range from topics like “how to get your kid to sleep” to “what do I need to know about flame retardant chemicals.” Both on our website and in our stores, we aim to be an educational resource for the communities that we are in. At most of our stores, we also host regular classes like music and baby yoga where, in addition to kids being entertained, parents can get to know each other as well.

Thank you for reading.  We hope this helps you make important decisions for your families health and the environment.

Make sure to visit Sprout San Francisco, sign up for their newsletter and follow them on Instagram.
